More pics for you - if you want to :-)

I thought I'd take you on a walk through Douglas Street starting at the shop and going up town

Anzac Park taken from the corner just past the shop

Anzac Park - this is where the music festival will beheld next month.  The building on the right near the water is the Jardine Motel/restaurant. As you can see the foreshore is never too far away :-)

The Uniting Church - my friend Jan is the pastor here. The premises on the far left is the Torres Hotel. Churches and pubs all live happily together on T.I.

St John's Community Centre - this is where we held the Toastmasters information evening. My friend Sylvia works here and kindly let us use her office.

Right: Mura Kosker Sorority - this is the office of the women's support group which hosted the International Women's Day dinner.  It's also the premises where we held out first Toastmasters meeting.
Middle: Toshi's butcher shop - good meat at reasonable prices. It's important to eat well while away from home :-)
Far left: TI Hardware

Like any good hardware store it's a hive of activity on a Saturday morning. And yes - some weeks there's a sausage sizzle :-)

The island pharmacy - and as on the mainland it sells a bit of everything - even drugs :-)

HACC - Home and Community Care - elders meet here for fellowship and craft. You can buy their craftware - it's on display in the window. This shop is next to the pharmacy.
The video/DVD shop run by the local 'nazi'. In order to borrow from this shop you have to agree to an ASIO audit and swear on a stack of bibles. I joined last year to borrow a $2 movie - by the time I'd signed all the forms and answered all his questions, I felt like public enemy #1

More pics later. Hope you're enjoying the tour :-)
